When I turned 30, I started looking for an in-depth health check-up. In the Netherlands, regular health check-ups aren’t really part of the system. And when you do ask for one, they’re often only basic. I wanted something more thorough. In the end, I did a “sportmedische keuring” (which was great!), but I couldn’t find anything comprehensive.

About a year and a half later, I joined the team at Ahead Health. As part of onboarding, I went through the “Ahead Advanced” scan. Not just as an employee, but as someone who had been actively searching for this kind of check-up before.

The process was seamless: no referral, no paperwork. Just one appointment with a full-body MRI and blood test and I was in and out in about an hour. A few days later, I was really exited to receive my report: It was medically super thorough, and explained in language I could actually understand. It contained actual MRI scan images that I could browse through, with highlighted areas for any point of interest.

In my case, I didn’t have any major findings (which was a relief), but I did learn that my iron levels were very low, much lower than I thought. I knew this from donating blood, and I’d always brushed it off, but the report and notes from Dr. Anna Erat helped me see it differently. I started starting supplements a few weeks back, and I feel like I'm gaining more energy throughout the day and have fewer mood swings already. I’m looking forward to a follow-up to track how things evolve. :)

And maybe most importantly: I can confirm that behind the product is a team that truly cares. Sven, Nick, Dennis and the whole team bring so much intention to making this service personal, innovative, and genuinely valuable. Not just in the moment, but for our long-term health.

It revolves around a full-body scan, which makes total sense given the level of insight you get. However it’s not something you’d do more than once a year. I’m looking forward to seeing more ways to stay connected to my health year-round, whether that’s through follow-ups or lighter tests.

Also, having more scan locations in other countries would make ongoing care easier for people who live across borders, like I do.

My goal was to get an in-depth check-up when I turned 30. Not because I had symptoms, but because I wanted general clarity and confidence about my health. That kind of screening isn’t easy to access in the Netherlands, so I’m really glad I finally got the chance to do it. It gave me the peace of mind that I’m starting this next decade of my life on the right foot.
