Best Tools for Consolidating Bloodwork Across Labs, Countries & Formats β€” With OCR + Human QA?

3 months ago (edited)

Yo everyone πŸ‘‹

I regularly do blood tracking (bloodwork) across multiple countries and labs β€” monitoring biomarkers relevant to longevity and performance.

One recurring problem:

Each lab uses different terminologies, formats, units, and report layouts. That makes it hard to automatically extract, normalize, and track the data across time.

I’ve tried various OCR and auto-import services like Insidetracker & Carrot Care etc. (from PDFs, lab portals, etc.), but they consistently fail β€” either at correctly reading the data or mapping the markers. So far, nothing has been reliable and user-friendly across labs.

My question to you:

Are there any services or stacks you’ve found that combine:

  • automated data extraction from lab reports (PDFs, portals, etc.)

  • standardized biomarker mapping across countries/lab systems

  • and importantly: human quality control or a concierge-style verification/update service?

Bonus if it includes time-series visualization and health tracking over time.

How do you manage this across borders? What tools or workflows do you use for reliable, longitudinal biomarker tracking?

Thanks in advance β€” curious to learn from your setups!

Hey @andy,

sorry for the late reply, this has been cooking for a while. Feel your problem and have also tested various of the providers you mentioned, same disappointment. The various lab report formats, missing standardization of marker names and units makes this really hard, data privacy even more so.

Today, we launched an OCR functionality within the LONGEVITAL app, that had ~98% accuracy in our tests and adds an automated QA on top which spots the markers you should check and verify. Not perfect, but working very well so far. No data sent to any LLM provider, which was also important to us.

Of course, we also still offer the (paid) digitization service for those who don’t want to worry about checking the data at all. 😊
