Experience with Longevity in the context of Crohn's Disease [IBD]

1 month ago (edited)

Hi everyone,

since I have been diagnosed with Crohn's Disease three years ago, I have started to devote a lot of time into a more healthy lifestyle, which already helped me to control my symptoms a lot. Longevity is a field with so many interesting insights, especially in the context of nutrition. However, many healthy foods often don't work for an inflammated colon. Does anyone have experience in managing Crohn's disease primarily with lifestyle choices in the context of longevity?

Thanks a lot!

Thanks for reaching out @steffen-k

You’re not alone, and some New Zapiens tribe members may be open to sharing their knowledge and experiences with lifestyle interventions for Crohn’s disease.

I think the "Chron Diet" (based on phases) and everything from the "NDR Nutrition Docs" is great. But maybe you already know about them: https://www.ndr.de/ratgeber/gesundheit/Ernaehrung-bei-Morbus-Crohn,morbuscrohn120.html

Hi Steffen,

great that you’re actively working on your lifestyle. That already makes a big difference with Crohn’s.

You’re right: many “healthy” longevity foods don’t always work well during inflammation. The key is personalization. The microbiome plays a central role in Crohn’s, and understanding your individual profile can help adjust nutrition and lifestyle more precisely to counteract symptoms.

Have you ever done a microbiome analysis?

... something to add here, which is the biggest challenge for me: how do I find the right balance between optimizing for low inflammation levels and microbiome health [i.e., the struggle between going for a simple white spelt bread or a full wheat rhy bread with pumpkin seeds]
