What’s your take on WHOOP’s 5.0 new BioAge feature? Does it actually help you stay consistent with your longevity habits?

I’ve been testing it for a few weeks now. My peak BioAge was 9.4 years younger than my actual age before I got hit with an infection. Since then, it’s been fluctuating quite a bit. Sometimes showing a pace of aging between 0.7x and 1.5x within just a few days. Feels a bit buggy or overly sensitive at times.

Are you satisfied with how WHOOP 5.0 calculates BioAge, or do you feel it still needs work and is more of a gimmick?

I also started off with an aging pace of 0.8x and then I was hit with an infection. The three week pause with physical activity increased my pace to 1.2x. It was very consistent though.

My whoop age only increased slightly which also made sense to me as it compares the 30 day average with the 60 day average of your activities, sleep, etc.

I am very happy so far.

I still use my old Whoop 4.0 and maybe I'll completely switch to Amazfit Helio Strap.

It has the (expected) benefit of being very motivating (and overly flattering in my case, amost 11 years younger) - certainly makes me want to keep it up. But I agree, feels a bit too sensitive especially considering tiny variations in sleep consistency. I want to dislike it because it's so purist and simplified, but I kind of love it (thanks human brain).

@heiko-bartlog I'm also comparing Whoop and Helio at the moment. Helio is doing surprisingly well. I do miss the auto-detection of workouts, though.

@lisa Auto detection of workouts or sleep works so bad for me with Whoop, I won't miss that feature ;)

After one year of Whoop4 - I'm not a fan for several reason I listed in my review: https://newzapiens.com/brands/whoop Obviously not used Whoop5.

Thanks for your feedback, @hadi-saleh @heiko-bartlog @lisa and @seb-c 🙏

Some quick follow-ups:

@lisa
Same here, I love the competition, especially when it’s just against myself 🫣 I also felt the biggest aha moment with WHOOP came early on. I could imagine rotating wearables every 6 months as a kind of health check-in. Daily use? Not sure it’s needed. And I literally am not a big fan of that green LED at night 😅

@lisa & @heiko-bartlog
Curious: Why are you both considering Amazfit?

I hadn’t really looked into it until I saw they partnered with HYROX. Checked our community reviews (just 2 so far → https://newzapiens.com/brands/amazfit), but would love to hear your thoughts!

@karol that's easy: the price! Of course it's always a trade off between price and benefit. And of course everybody has different priorities. But at the moment I don't see much benefit for me by Whoop in comparison to the Helio Strap, at least not enough for me to pay for 3 Helio Straps per year ...
