What does prevention look like for you?

2 weeks ago (edited)

Most of us are optimising for energy, performance, and longevity. But how much of your routine is specifically aimed at preventing illness before it shows up?

Are you doing regular screenings or bloodwork? Tracking specific markers? Avoiding certain exposures? Or do you assume your general health habits have it covered?

Curious what this community is actively doing for prevention, and what you’ve decided isn’t worth the effort.

I would start like this:

1) What is your budget (money, time, effort)

2) Like a normal doctor or a longevity doctor I would start by creating an individual medical history and current issues and the family history. Then do a health checkup, the extent depends on your budget.

3) From there you can attack your biggest risk factors for you, the common problems have been mentioned in the popular longevity books some name it "The four horsemen". To me it seems like way more important to focus on detection and looking at the big risk factors before thinking too much about more specific things to slow down ageing.

The most important biomarkers are covered in https://newzapiens.com/tools

4) I am more skeptical about epigentic testing and clocks or similar tests.

Summery: Detecting and preventing the biggest risk factors is way more important to me, because you can cover it with a small time investment. From there on you can focus on the other strategies.
